These days it seems as if the comforts of home are not achievable on the road. Most hotels are cold, and utilitarian, but there are exceptions. Hotel Preton is a new hotel (opened just over a year) with fresh ideas and concepts and it is all the rage in Music City USA. Hotel Preston, a convenient two mile jaunt from the Nashville International Airport, boasts 196 large guest rooms and are priced at reasonable rates starting at around US$86/night.
Like other hotels, it does sport a full service restaurant and lounge with live entertainment. There's a clean outdoor pool, a well equipped 24 hour fitness center, business center, banquet facilities, meeting rooms and even a spa service provided in the privacy of your room if you'd like.
Here's where it becomes a little more specialized . . .
Once you've chosen your room, you're offered a pillow menu. Yes, a pillow menu, outfitted with a plethora of pillows all featuring different textures and fillings for the most discriminating 'pillow connoisseur'. Couple this little touch with the stock pillow top bed, soft and comfortable duvet, divine sheets, and you're in for a night of sleep that rivals anything you might experience in your own bed!
The personal programming for comfort does not end there. Feel like adding an 'Austin Powers' aura to your room' Add a lava lamp. That's right, order one up, and it will be delivered to your room; pronto!
Missing your pet at home' Call down for a live beta fish to take care of during your stay. Not very snuggly, but a pet all the same.
Pick a good book from an impressive selection in their library.
Have milk and cookies delivered to your room for only three bucks!
Order your own rubber duckie to keep you company in your bubble bath!
Enjoy a CD of smooth ocean sounds or go back in time with a library collection of classic favorites.
Order chocolates, champagne & candles for a romantic night, or a night of solace on your own!
If you're bringing the family, coloring books and crayons for free for the munchkins!
Indulge in genuine Starbucks coffee and tazo tea, which is supplied in your room to enjoy as many cups as you'd like during your stay!
Hotel Preston also provides an all hours, full service room service with impeccable and authentic courtesy. Not only did I appreciate the speedy southern hospitality, but the Caesar salad that I ordered was terrific. With the proverbial appetizer out of the way'I was ready for a main course, but alas. It was bedtime . . . oh well, there was breakfast to look forward to. And it was worth the wait!
Food and beverage director, Gary Byrd oversees the chef at hand and serves up a top notch breakfast buffet. Picture copious amounts of fresh, firm fruit, scrumptious muffins, delicious pancakes, eggs, bacon, and tasty regional favorites.
